- 1 길르앗 거주민 디셉 사람 엘리야가 아합에게 이르되, 내가 서서 섬기는 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내 말이 있지 아니하면 이 몇 년 동안 이슬이나 비가 있지 아니하리라, 하니라.
- 2 주의 말씀이 그에게 임하니라, 이르시되,
- 3 너는 여기를 떠나 동쪽으로 가서 요르단 앞 그릿 시냇가에 숨고
- 4 그 시내에서 물을 마시라. 내가 까마귀들에게 명령하여 거기서 너를 먹이게 하였느니라, 하시니라.
- 5 이에 그가 가서 주의 말씀대로 행하였으니 곧 그가 가서 요르단 앞 그릿 시냇가에 거하였더라.
- 6 까마귀들이 아침에 빵과 고기를 그에게 가져오고 저녁에 빵과 고기를 가져왔으며 그가 그 시내에서 물을 마셨는데
- 7 땅에 비가 내리지 아니하므로 얼마 뒤에 그 시내가 마르니라.
- 8 ¶주의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하니라. 이르시되,
- 9 너는 일어나 시돈에 속한 사르밧으로 가서 거기 거하라. 보라, 내가 그곳의 과부 여인에게 명령하여 너를 돌보게 하였느니라, 하시니라.
- 10 이에 그가 일어나 사르밧으로 가서 도시의 문에 이를 때에, 보라, 그 과부 여인이 거기서 나뭇가지를 주우므로 그가 그녀를 불러 이르되, 원하건대 그릇에 물을 조금 가져다가 내가 마시게 하라, 하니라.
- 11 그녀가 그것을 가지러 갈 때에 그가 그녀를 불러 이르되, 원하건대 네 손의 빵 한 조각을 내게로 가져오라, 하매
- 12 그녀가 이르되, 주 당신의 하나님께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하옵나니 내게는 납작한 빵이 없고 다만 통에 가루 한 움큼과 병에 기름이 조금 있을 뿐이니이다. 보소서, 내가 나뭇가지 두 개를 줍고 안으로 들어가 나와 내 아들을 위해 그것을 차려서 우리가 먹고 죽으려 하나이다, 하매
- 13 엘리야가 그녀에게 이르되, 두려워하지 말고 가서 네가 말한 대로 하려니와 먼저 그것으로 나를 위해 작은 빵 하나를 만들어 내게로 가져오고 그 뒤에 너와 네 아들을 위해 만들라.
- 14 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이같이 말씀하시기를, 주가 비를 땅 위에 내리는 날까지 가루 통이 고갈되지 아니하고 기름병이 마르지 아니하리라, 하시느니라, 하니라.
- 15 그녀가 가서 엘리야의 말대로 하였더니 그녀와 엘리야와 그녀의 집이 여러 날 먹었으나
- 16 주께서 엘리야를 통하여 친히 하신 말씀대로 가루 통이 고갈되지 아니하고 기름병이 마르지 아니하니라.
- 17 ¶이 일들 뒤에 그 집의 여주인 되는 여인의 아들이 병들었는데 그의 병이 매우 심해 그가 숨이 끊어졌으므로
- 18 그녀가 엘리야에게 이르되, 오 하나님의 사람이여, 내가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있나이까? 당신이 내 죄를 생각나게 하며 또 내 아들을 죽게 하려고 내게 오셨나이까? 하매
- 19 그가 그녀에게 이르기를, 네 아들을 내게 달라, 하여 그를 그녀의 품에서 취해 안고 자기가 거하던 다락방에 올라가 자기 침상에 누이고는
- 20 주께 부르짖어 이르되, 오 주 내 하나님이여, 주께서 내가 머무는 집의 과부의 아들을 죽이심으로써 그녀에게 또 재앙을 내리셨나이까? 하고
- 21 그 아이 위에 자기 몸을 세 번 펴서 엎드리고 주께 부르짖어 이르되, 오 주 내 하나님이여, 원하건대 이 아이의 혼이 다시 아이에게 들어가게 하옵소서, 하니
- 22 주께서 엘리야의 목소리를 들으셨더라. 그 아이의 혼이 다시 아이에게 들어가서 그가 살아났으므로
- 23 엘리야가 그 아이를 안고 방에서 집으로 내려가 그의 어머니에게 그를 넘겨주며 이르되, 보라, 네 아들이 살아 있느니라, 하니라.
- 24 ¶그 여인이 엘리야에게 이르되, 이로써 내가 이제 당신은 하나님의 사람이시요, 당신의 입에 있는 주의 말씀은 진리인 줄 아나이다, 하니라.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
